How To Create An Adwords Conversion Tracker For Your Website

In this article I will guide you how to create Google Adwords conversion tracker for your website. You can create multiple type of conversion trackers in Adwords depending on your business vertical e.g if you are selling product online then a successful sale is a conversion for you, while at the other end if you are into travel business then submitting an inquiry can be a conversion. As I mentioned earlier you really need to define what is a conversion for your business and track this conversion using Google Adwords to measure ROI. Lets start and create our first Adwords Conversion Tracker.

In this blog I will be creating a simple web form submission tracker to track Contact-Us submission form.

Step 1: Login to your Google Adwords account.

Step 2: Click on the Tools from the top menu and select Conversions as shown below.

Step 3: If you are creating your first conversion then click on the red button with the name Conversion as shown below.

Step 4: Select the Website option as shown below.

Step 5: Give a name to your conversion which describes best the nature of conversion. Then press Done as shown below.

Step 6: From the next option we will select “Don’t Assign A Value” as our form submission does not have any monetary value associated with it. But if you are creating a conversion for your e-commerce website or there is a monetary value associated with your conversion then you can define the value here e.g product price or price for downloading a doc.

Step 7: Leave the value of Count and Conversion Window as default and just change the Category as per the business need.

Step 8: Leave the last two options of Include in Conversions and Attribution Model as default and click on “Save & Continue

Step 9: On the next page you will find a Tracking Code and instructions on how to implement this tracking code in your website manually. Email these instructions and code to yourself and click on Done button.

If you would like to learn how to implement this code using Google Tag Manager then please follow How To Implement Adwords Conversion Tracker Using Google Tag Manager blog.

Congratulations!! You have created your first Adwords Conversion Tracker.
